Joey Bergjord runs the entire Frankman Motor Company body shop, restoration department, and our Custom Interiors Department. Whether you're bringing in a 1969 Camaro for a factory-correct interior, a brand-new Silverado for a full Katzkin leather conversion, a pontoon boat, or a sectional sofa, Joey is your point of contact from day one through final stitch.
The interior team operates the same way every other shop at FMC does — small, sharp, and obsessed with the details most shops skip. Every panel is fit by hand. Every seam is straight. Every headliner is tight. Family-owned since 1988, and we treat every interior project like it's going in our own ride.
John runs the day-to-day inside our Harrisburg interior shop. He grew up in the trade — his grandfather started Staley's Upholstery, and John has been pulling thread, fitting foam, and stretching hides since he was old enough to hold a Sharpie. He started working with the Frankman team in 2024, and in 2026 he joined full-time onsite, building seats, headliners, door panels, and full custom interiors for our restoration, custom, and Katzkin customers.
The family business carries on too — John's mother still runs the furniture upholstery, repair, and recovering side over at Staley's, and we're proud to keep working alongside them. Stand-up, honest people, and the kind of craft you can't fake. If you've got a custom build, we've got the team to not just build the car — we'll get the interior looking just as good. Stop by the Harrisburg shop and meet John in person.
Eight core service areas, one shop, one point of contact. If it has stitching or padding, we can build it, fix it, or upgrade it.
Full seat rebuilds, foam replacement, and skin-off swaps in leather, vinyl, cloth, or any combination.
Sagging headliners replaced with factory-correct material or upgraded suede / Alcantara finishes.
Custom door panels, armrests, kick panels, and trim — wrapped, stitched, and color-matched to your build.
Full molded carpet sets, sound deadening, custom mats, and trunk liners — installed and trimmed clean.
Authorized Katzkin Dealer. Factory-fit leather conversion kits for late-model trucks, SUVs, and cars — installed in-house.
Boats, pontoons, jet skis, fishing rigs. Marine-grade vinyl, mildew-resistant foam, UV-stable thread.
RV captain's chairs, dinette cushions, slide-out covers, motorcycle seats, sissy bars — all done in-house.
Yes — we do home furniture too. Sectionals, dining chairs, ottomans, headboards. Bring it in.
Frankman Motor Company is South Dakota's Authorized Katzkin Dealer — which means we install factory-fit Katzkin leather conversion kits in-house, every single one to the manufacturer's spec. Katzkin makes premium leather upholstery designed and tooled to the exact factory dimensions of late-model trucks, SUVs, and cars from Ford, Chevy, GMC, Ram, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Jeep, and more — over 4 million vehicles have rolled out with Katzkin interiors.
Bring your modern daily driver in and we'll transform the factory cloth interior into custom-look leather in days, not weeks — with color, perforation, piping, and stitching options you'd expect from a $100K luxury build. Pricing is dramatically lower than dealer-installed leather, and the fit is identical to OEM.

For decades, custom car and truck owners in the region had to ship interiors to shops in Texas, California, or Detroit to get great results. Not anymore. The Frankman Motor Company Custom Interiors Department brings that same caliber of work right to your driveway.
Every Custom Interior project at FMC is handled in-house by our own team — no subcontracting, no farming out the headliner to one shop and the seats to another. That single-shop accountability is the difference between a $40K interior that holds up for twenty years and a $40K interior that comes apart in two summers.
"Mild" is a 1972 Chevelle that needs the factory-correct black vinyl bench reupholstered to OE spec, the headliner replaced, and new molded carpet installed. The owner wants the car to look exactly like it did the day it left the showroom. We do those every week.
"Wild" is a 2024 Ram 2500 Limited with a full Katzkin two-tone leather conversion in saddle and obsidian, contrast stitching in copper, perforated seat inserts with cooling fans, custom door panel inserts that match the seats, suede A-pillars, and a wrapped dash. That's a different kind of build — same shop, same team, same standards.
Between those two extremes is where most of our work lives: thoughtful upgrades to interiors people care about. Better materials, cleaner stitching, smarter color combinations, modern comfort built into vehicles built before "comfort" was a feature.
From start to finish, every interior touches the same hands — see our Build Gallery for finished vehicle interiors out of the same shop, or check out the Built For More custom build program when the interior is just one piece of a ground-up build.

Our custom interiors department serves customers across South Dakota — Sioux Falls, Tea, Brandon, Harrisburg, Mitchell, Watertown, Aberdeen, Rapid City — and well beyond. We regularly take in vehicles and projects from Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and beyond. We've shipped finished work to clients in California, Texas, Florida, and the Pacific Northwest. If you can get it to Sioux Falls, we can build it.
Our shop shares a facility with the full Frankman Motor Company body shop, restoration department, and collision center at 26874 SD-11 in Sioux Falls. That single-location, single-team approach is rare in this industry — most interior shops can only do interiors. We can pair your interior work with paint, body, suspension, electrical, or mechanical at the same time, by the same shop. Visit our Restoration Department or Body Shop & Collision Center to see the rest.
